𝐎𝐫𝐟 is viral disease that can be found throughout the world! It also goes by the names 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐡𝐲𝐦𝐚 or 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐩𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐬.

𝐀𝐥𝐬𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 is a common type of clover found throughout North America, that is associated with liver disease in horses. Alsike clover’s scientific name is 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐡𝐲𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐦.

𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐬 is 𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐬 (inflammation of the skin) caused by 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚, which are small worm-like parasites. 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚 are the most common parasites we see causing this condition!

𝐕𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧 𝐀 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 can be quite common in turtles kept in captivity if they aren’t fed a proper diet. This is just one reason why consulting with your exotics veterinarian about your pet is so important!
