𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 is basically as the name suggests, a disease of the muscle that turns it white instead of its normal red colour. This disease is associated with nutritional problems!

𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐲𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐚 means short (brachy-) mouth (gnath-). Usually this term refers to shortening of the 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 (lower jaw), however it can also refer to shortening of the maxilla (upper jaw).

𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 is a disease of humans caused by 𝐆𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐚, a single-celled parasite. However, this parasite can affect many mammalian species!

𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬 are the most important condition affecting the 𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐬 of the eye, which orients light entering the eye onto the retina. Normal lenses are perfectly clear, but in cataracts they end up becoming cloudy!

𝐆𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐲𝐩𝐢𝐛𝐨𝐦𝐚 literally means “cotton tumour”, which is pretty accurate to what they are! Gossypibomas are when a piece of 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐚𝐮𝐳𝐞 is inadvertently left in the animal during surgery.

𝐒𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐢 are also known as accessory spleens, and they are a form of 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐚, or normal tissue in an abnormal place. In other words, they are basically mini spleens in an area where the spleen normally isn’t!

𝐋𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐚 is a tumour of the 𝐥𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐜𝐲𝐭𝐞𝐬, one of the body’s major white blood cells. Because the white blood cells are found in the blood, these tumours can occur pretty much anywhere, and are always considered 𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐭 (aggressive).

𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐚 means big (macro-) mouth (stoma). Usually, this condition presents as the corners of the lips extending far into the cheek, giving the animal an appearance like the Joker.

𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐬 is an infection with 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚, a fungus that is normally found in the mouth and gastrointestinal tract of animals. Under certain circumstances, this fungus can proliferate, causing the disease!

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐬 are exactly as described: twins that are fused together at some point on their body. They have been reported throughout history, with cases even documented in medieval paintings!
