Toxpath Case 3: Pigpen

It is the middle of winter and you are working on the necropsy floor. A 5 year old potbellied pig comes in for necropsy.

Petting zoo pig. This morning owners noticed seizure-like activity and head pressing behaviour. Eventually pig went into a dog-sitting position and died. Owners report no changes in his diet, environment, etc other than they put in a new water heater yesterday.

Necropsy Findings
Examined a 5 year old potbellied pig. No significant findings were noted in the heart, lungs, liver, spleen, kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, or brain.
